RESOLUTION 2000-089
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, SUPPORTING THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
MINI GRANT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM APPLICA nON AND ENDORSING
THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AS THE APPLICANT FROM THE
SEWARD COMMUNITY
WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce has requested the City's support for their application
in the Department of Community and Economic Development Mini Grant Assistance program and
only one application can be received per community; and
WHEREAS, the City of Seward is qualified to apply, but we have deferred to the private
sector the past few years in an effort to allow the private sector access to funds for economic
development; and
WHEREAS, the Chamber proposes to create a media campaign designed to encourage
economic growth and diversity for the community of Seward, which includes a 20-minute video, an
Internet PowerPoint presentation, and a printed brochure; and
WHEREAS, this media campaign is consistent with the City's Comprehensive and Strategic
Plans;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City of Seward supports the Chamber of Commerce Department of
Community and Economic Development Mini Grant Assistance program application and endorses the
Chamber as the applicant from the Seward community.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 14th day
of August, 2000.
