RESOLUTION 2000-103
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, APPROPRIATING FUNDS TO SPONSOR A HEALTH SUMMIT
ADDRESSING THE LONG- TERM HEALTH CARE NEEDS OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD
WHEREAS, as a result of a Spirit of Seward meeting on healthcare and telemedicine, the
City would like to sponsor a health summit on October 9, 2000, to address the long-term health care
needs of the City of Seward; and
WHEREAS, last year, a summit sponsored by the Seward Healthy Communities Task Force,
brought together many individuals and organizations from across Seward, where concerns regarding
health care in our community were addressed and then prioritized; and
WHEREAS, one of the major concerns addressed at this summit was the need for improved
communication and cooperation between agencies; and
WHEREAS, there is concern for the sustain-ability of these isolated agencies within the
community, especially in response to rapidly changing health care financing and regulations and;
WHEREAS, there is a need to ask how the health care agencies in Seward will address these
changes and provide quality care for the citizens of Seward.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council appropriates $1500 from the General Fund fund balance,
account no. 101-3050 to Mayor/ Council Misc. Expenses, account no. 101-1110-5790 to cover the
expenses of this health care summit.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this lIth day
of September, 2000.
