RESOLUTION 2000-109
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO REVISE THE
SEWARD MARINE INDUSTRIAL CENTER UPLAND BOAT WORKS
POLICY, DELETING THE PROHmITION OF THE USE OF SILICA SAND
AS A BLAST MATERIAL.
WHEREAS, the Seward City Council approved adoption of the Seward Marine Industrial
Center Upland Boat Work Policy at their June 26,2000 regular meeting; and
WHEREAS, the Seward City Council directed the administration to reschedule the policy as
revised for the July 24,2000 regular meeting agenda where it was approved as revised by Resolution
2000-077; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to periodically review the policy; and
WHEREAS, in response to a complaint by a citizen concerning the prohibition on the use of
silica sand as a blast material, the City Council directed the administration to bring the matter before
council at the September 25, 200 meeting for review;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to revise the Seward Marine Industrial Center
Upland Boat Works Policy, Best Management Practices, deleting the prohibition on the use of silica
sand as a blast material.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 25th day
of September, 2000.
