RESOLUTION 2000-132
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A
CONTRACT WITH CIC, INC. TO CONSTRUCT THE NORTH FOREST
ACRES LEVEE EXTENSION AND UPGRADE OF DIMOND BOULEVARD
AT A COST NOT TO EXCEED $566,643, WITH FINANCING FROM THE
FLOOD MITIGATION PROJECT ACCOUNT
WHEREAS, a request for bids to construct the Japanese Creek Levee Extension and the
Dimond Blvd. upgrade was properly advertised; and,
WHEREAS, the City is at risk ofa serious flood if the levee is not extended; and,
WHEREAS, funds have been appropriated to cover the cost of this project; and,
WHEREAS, a 10% contingency has been added to the contractors bid price to cover the cost
of any unforseen problem which may arise during construction; and,
WHEREAS, the engineering and permitting have been completed for this project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with CIC Inc. to construct the
Japanese Creek Levee Extension and the Upgrade of Dimond Blvd., at a cost not to exceed $566,643
with financing from NRCS and FEMA Flood mitigation project, Account 666-666X-5390.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council ofthe city of Seward, Alaska, this 6th day
of November, 2000.
