RESOLUTION 2000-146
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA,
APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE LEGAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH
WOHLFORTH, VASSAR, JOHNSON & BRECHT
WHEREAS, the law firm ofWohlforth, Vassar, Johnson & Brecht (the "Law Firm") has
served the City as its City attorney since February 23, 1993, according to the terms ofthe 1993 legal
services agreement (the "Agreement"); and
WHEREAS, for more than seven years, the Law Firm has provided legal services through
several attorneys within the Law Firm; and
WHEREAS, for purposes of the City Charter and Code, a person within the Law Firm is to
be designated the City attorney; and
WHEREAS, as provided below, the parties agree to make an amendment to the Agreement
to reflect current practice.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. Although the Law Firm provides legal services to the City through several
attorneys on a firm-wide basis, Paragraph 4 on page 3 ofthe Agreement provides that a responsible
or lead attorney be designated City attorney for purposes of the City Charter and other requirements.
From time to time the lead attorney position has been held by different attorneys within the firm.
Consistent with current practice and the intent of the Law Firm, Paragraph 4 shan ~ow read:
4. RESPONSIBLE OR LEAD ATTORNEY. For purpos~s ofthe City
Charter and other requirements, Bradley E. Meyen of the Law Firm, Wohlforth"Vassar;.
Johnson & Brecht will be designated City Attorney. He may, in his discretion, assign' City
matters to other attorneys or legal assistants in the Law Firm for handling work under his
supervISIOn.
Section 2. Except as amended hereby, the Agreement shall continue in full force and
effect in accordance with its existing terms.
Section 3.
This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
