<br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2004-03 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, PORT AND COMMERCE <br />ADVISORY BOARD, RECOMMENDING THE CITY OF SEWARD CONTRACT <br />WITH THE SEWARD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT <br />AND EXECUTION OF A COMMUNITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND <br />MARKETING PLAN. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Seward recognizes the need to develop, maintain and implement a current <br />Community Economic Development and Marketing Plan; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Seward recognizes the need to market the communities resources and assets <br />to promote economic growth, provide year round employment and economic stability for its citizens; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Seward recognizes the cumulative effect of a Community Economic <br />Development and Marketing Plan, and the implementation thereof, will provide an expanded tax base for the <br />City as State and Borough revenue sharing, grant funding decreases; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Seward recognizes that such self sufficiency will provide for an improved <br />quality of life for its citizens. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND RECOMMENDED BY THE PORT AND <br />COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, THAT: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Seward enter into a five year, performance based contract <br />with the Seward Chamber of Commerce to develop and implement a Community Economic Development and <br />Marketing Plan. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Seward appropriate $250,000 annually to pay for the <br />services provided by the Seward Chamber of Commerce. <br /> <br />Section 3. The City Council of the City of Seward appoints one council member to sit as a liaison <br />representative to the Seward Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED by the City of Seward, Alaska, Port and Commerce Advisory Board this <br />3rd day of March, 2004. <br /> <br />~ADVISORYBOARD <br />g~ <br /> <br />Deborah Altermatt, Chair <br />
