HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes2004-003 CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 2004-03 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD, RECOMMENDING THE CITY OF SEWARD CONTRACT WITH THE SEWARD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND EXECUTION OF A COMMUNITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND MARKETING PLAN. WHEREAS, the City of Seward recognizes the need to develop, maintain and implement a current Community Economic Development and Marketing Plan; and WHEREAS, the City of Seward recognizes the need to market the communities resources and assets to promote economic growth, provide year round employment and economic stability for its citizens; and WHEREAS, the City of Seward recognizes the cumulative effect of a Community Economic Development and Marketing Plan, and the implementation thereof, will provide an expanded tax base for the City as State and Borough revenue sharing, grant funding decreases; and, WHEREAS, the City of Seward recognizes that such self sufficiency will provide for an improved quality of life for its citizens. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND RECOMMENDED BY THE PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, THAT: Section 1. The City Council of the City of Seward enter into a five year, performance based contract with the Seward Chamber of Commerce to develop and implement a Community Economic Development and Marketing Plan. Section 2. The City Council of the City of Seward appropriate $250,000 annually to pay for the services provided by the Seward Chamber of Commerce. Section 3. The City Council of the City of Seward appoints one council member to sit as a liaison representative to the Seward Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
