<br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2004-04 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, PORT AND COMMERCE <br />ADVISORY BOARD, RECOMMENDING THE DISSOLUTION OF THE PORT AND <br />COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD AND RECOMMENDING THE SANCTIONING <br />OF A NEW "PORT AND HARBOR COMMISSION" <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Seward has realized significant growth of its Port and Small Boat Harbor <br />operations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Seward desires to have a comprehensive Community Economic Development <br />and Marketing Plan; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the existing Port and Commerce Advisory Board operates in an advisory capacity only, <br />without sufficient resources and authority to properly formulate and develop the necessary Community <br />Economic Development and Marketing Plan, while acting as a liaison and advisory board to the City Council <br />concerning Port and Small Boat Harbor Operations; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Seward to have an empowered commission <br />dedicated as a liaison between the public and City Council relating to operational matters of the Port and Small <br />Boat Harbor without the burden of developing and initiating a Community Economic Development and <br />Marketing Plan. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND RECOMMENDED BY THE PORT AND <br />COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, THAT: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Seward dissolve the current Port and Commerce Advisory <br />Board as previously established by resolution. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Seward create and empower a Port and Harbor <br />Commission to oversee and facilitate the growth of the Cities Port and Small Boat Harbor. <br /> <br />Section 3. The City Council of the City of Seward solicit applications from and appoint seven citizens <br />of the City of Seward as Commissioners; to act on all matters pertaining to Port and Small Boat Harbor <br />operations, as empowered and directed by the City Council. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED by the City of Seward, Alaska, Port and Commerce Advisory Board this <br />4h day of February, 2004. <br /> <br />PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD <br /> <br />Deborah Altermatt, Chair <br /> <br />FAILED/ LACK OF A SECOND <br />
