<br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD <br />RESOLUTION 2004-06 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, PORT AND <br />COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD, RECOMMENDING THE CITY OF <br />SEWARD CITY COUNCIL ENGAGE THE SEWARD CHAMBER OF <br />COMMERCE AS THE MARKETING ENTITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Port and Commerce Advisory Board (P ACAB) and the City of Seward (the <br />City) has sought to promote and increase the visibility of Seward; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City and P ACAB recognize the significant benefits, direct and indirect, of <br />marketing efforts; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a long term marketing plan combined with aggressive pursuit of marketing <br />goals will pay large dividends for the community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the quality of life for the citizens of Seward and surrounding areas is a direct <br />result of a stable, vibrant, year round economy; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Seward Chamber of Commerce (the Chamber) has the experience, <br />professional contacts and ability to provide marketing services for the community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Chamber has the ability to focus resources and target specific marketing <br />groups and to react to changing markets and demands more efficiently and expertly than the City; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the community would benefit greatly by engaging and recognizing the Chamber <br />as the marketing entity of the community and the consolidation of the marketing effort. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND RECOMMENDED BY THE PORT <br />AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, THAT: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Seward resolves to recognize and engage the <br />Seward Chamber of Commerce as the marketing entity for the community of Seward <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED by the City of Seward, Alaska, Port and Commerce Advisory <br />Board this 10th day of March 2004. <br /> <br />PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />~CHAIR <br />AYES: Van Buskirk, Mercer, Whitman, Lechner, Waliezer, Altermatt <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Jordan, Tougas, Goodwill <br />ABSTAIN: None <br />
