<br />Introduced by: Altermatt <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD ALASKA <br />SEWARD PORT AND COMMERCE <br />ADVISORY BOARD <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005-03 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, PORT AND <br />COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD RECOMMENDING THE DISSOLUTION OF <br />THE PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD. <br /> <br />Whereas, the City of Seward has realized significant growth of its Port and Small <br />Boat Harbor operations; and <br /> <br />Whereas, the City of Seward desires to have a comprehensive Community <br />Economic Development and Marketing Plan; and has tasked the Port and Commerce <br />Advisory Board to develop such a plan; and <br /> <br />Whereas, none of the resources, support, or tools necessary to develop a <br />meaningful plan have been provided, the plan cannot be developed; and <br /> <br />Whereas, in recent years Economic Development issues have been either <br />delegated to the Chamber of Commerce or left unaddressed; and <br /> <br />Whereas, the existing Port and Commerce Advisory Board has operated only in <br />an advisory capacity to the City Council, primarily concerning Port and Small Boat <br />Harbor operations; and <br /> <br />Whereas, the Port and Commerce Advisory Board has attempted to remain active <br />with all issues pertaining to the development and operation of Seward's Port and Small <br />Boat Harbor; and <br /> <br />Whereas, of late, most policy decisions regarding the operation and development <br />of Seward's Port and Small Boat Harbor have been routinely made without benefit or use <br />of the board's input or expertise; and <br /> <br />Whereas, dialogue between the Council and Board has apparently failed, <br />rendering the Board ineffective and of little use or benefit to the City or Council, <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED AND RECOMMENDED BY THE <br />PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br />ALASKA, THAT: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Seward dissolves the current Port and <br />Commerce Advisory Board. <br />
