<br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006-01 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA PORT AND COMMERCE <br />ADVISORY BOARD, RECOMMENDING CITY COUNCIL AMEND CHAPTER 2.30, <br />ARTICLE 3 OF THE CITY CODE TO REFLECT CHANGES TO THE BOARD SIZE <br />AND PURPOSE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, positive economic growth and quality of life in Seward are first and <br />foremost concepts held by the Port and Commerce Advisory Board; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, P ACAB has been historically instrumental in making <br />recommendations to the City Council concerning projects to promote and develop domestic and <br />international trade for the port and City; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, continuation of PACAB's role to provide input on matters <br />involving industry and economic growth of both the port and City is requested by City Council; <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a streamlining of board membership will not prohibit the successful <br />achievement of desired outcomes for board goals; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Seward has seen consistent growth over the past years <br />and PACAB's advisory role has evolved beyond matters pertaining only to the port of Seward to <br />more general economic development projects; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND RECOMMENDED BY <br />THE PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br />ALASKA, THAT: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, amend Chapter 2.30, <br />Article 3 of the City Code to reflect a change from nine (9) members to seven (7) members; and <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, amend Chapter 2.30, <br />Article 3, Section 4 to include "and other matters pertaining to Seward economic development" <br />after the existing line. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED by the City of Seward, Alaska, Port and Commerce <br />Advisory Board this 1 st day of March 2006. <br /> <br /> <br />Ayes: Van Buskirk, Whitman, Waliezer, <br />Hettinger and Long <br />Noes: None <br />Absent: Altermatt <br />
