,,,~ Sponsored by: Administration <br />CTTY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD <br />RESOLUTION 2008-01 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD, <br />SUPPORTING CITY COUNCIL ADOPTION OF THE UPDATED SEWARD <br />MARINE INDUSTRIAL CENTER DEVELOPMENT PLAN <br />WHEREAS, initial construction of the Seward Marine Industrial Center began in 1980 with <br />the shiplift becoming operational in 1985; and <br />WHEREAS, the City based the construction and development on a 1980 project description <br />prepared by its consulting engineers; and <br />WHEREAS, funding limitations and economics have slowed final development, and there is <br />a need to provide priority directions for its full development; and <br />WHEREAS, the Seward Port and Commerce Advisory Board initiated a plan to guide city <br />management and private enterprise in the continued development and management of the Seward <br />„` Marine Industrial Center; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska passed and approved the <br />Seward Marine Industrial Development Plan on January 23, 1995 by Resolution 1995-007; and <br />WHEREAS, through Resolution 2006-131, the City Council assigned the Port and <br />Commerce Advisory Board to review and update the Seward Marine Industrial Development Plan; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Port and Commerce Advisory Board held multiple work sessions, work <br />shops and public hearings to solicit public comments and discuss updates to the Seward Maxine <br />Industrial Center Development Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, the Seward Marine Industrial Center .Development Plan was updated based on <br />draft reviews and comments of the Port and Commerce Advisory Boazd, the public, the Planning and <br />Zoning Conunission and City Administration; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Port and Commerce Advisory <br />Board that: <br />Section 1. The Board supports the adoption of the updated Seward. Marine Industrial Center <br />Development Plan. <br />
