HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
RESOLUTION 2008-OS
A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD HISTORIC PRESERVATION
COMMISSION, RECOMMENDING CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZE THE
COMMISSION TO AID IN THE 2009 STATEHOOD CELEBRATION
WHEREAS, Alaska will celebrate the 50~' Anniversary of Statehood during 2009; and
WHEREAS, the City of Seward has been awarded an Alaska Statehood Experience Grant in the
amount of $20,500.00;
WHEREAS, the Seward Mural Society, the Resurrection Bay Historical Society, the Seward
Community Library, the City of Seward and members of the public are working on the statehood
celebration entitled Seward Home of Alaska's Flag showcasing a mural and a symposium; and
WHEREAS, the Historic Preservation has agreed to help by hosting the lecture portion of the
symposium and research and invite presenters to the event.
that:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Historic Preservation Commission
Section 1. The Seward Historic Preservation Commission will host the lecture portion of the
symposium and research and invite presenters to the event.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the Seward Historic Preservation Commission this 16th day of
July 2008.
