RESOLUTION 2008-084
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING TILE CI'CY MANAGER TO AP OPRIATE
FUNDS iN THE AMOUNT OF $55,475.65 TO THE EVAN SF.Y SKATE
PARK UPGRADE PROJECT AND ACCEPTING A N PERCENT"
GRANT FROM AMERICAN RAMP COMPANY
WHEREAS, at the completion of the new communiy+~ built playground at Ballaine
Boulevard this May, increased visitor use to the area brought~i 'ore locals and visitors to the F.van
Casey Skate Park. The public asked for a facelift for the pa~ ,and
WHEREAS, American Ramp Company haste ~a skate park Design Day with several
Sewardites, then drafted project proposals, then aw ded parks and recreation a "ten percent"
grant from their company; and
WHEREAS, American Ramp Compa is listed on the Government Services Contract
and the City of Seward is buying based those contract prices, according to City Code
6.10.120; and
WHEREAS, the proposed pro'. et includes ahalf-pipe and a 20 year warranty, when
properly installed and maintained; an
WHEREAS, maintenanc should be reduced to an annual paint job and a connections
check; and
WHEREAS, the c ' ting older elements of the park should be removed for the safety of
the users; and
WHEREAS, e Skate Park upgrade should bring years of hours of safer enjoyment to
the youth of Sewar nd its visitors.
NOW, EREFORE, BE 1'T RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SF, AHD, ALASKA that:
Sec on 1. Funding in the amount of $55,475.65 is hereby appropriated as follows: 1)
$2,520.1 in remaining funds from the Two Lakes Park project, account no. 220-3071-0283; 2)
$8,523. 8 from remaining Kawabe Park project fiords, account no. 600-0000-3071-0283; 3)
$20,9 .89 from remaining Community Center repairs, account no. 103-0000-3071-0283; and 4)
$23 37.59 from the General Fund fiord balance account no. 101-0000-3071-0283, to the Skate
Pa Improvements project no. 283-2831-5925.

Section 2. A grant from American Ramp Company i ~e amount of 10% of the project, or
$5,547.00 Tor obtaining free side enclosures is hereby ~cepted to grant revenues account no.
283-2831-4680-0900, and appropriated to the Skate rk Improvements infrastructure account
no.283-2831-5925.
Section 3. This resolution shall take
immediately upon ils adoption.
