HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes2013-005 Sponsored by: Planning and Zoning Commission CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION RESOLUTION 2013 -05 A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, RECOMMENDING CITY COUNCIL APPROVAL OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION PRIORITIES FROM APRIL 2013 TO APRIL 2014 WHEREAS, at the January 15, 2013 work session the Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed their Priorities List; and WHEREAS, the Seward City Council Rules of Procedure, adopted March 14, 1994, state that the Council should meet in an annual joint work session with the Commission to address areas of mutual concern; and WHEREAS, the Commission and Council held a joint work session, reviewed and updated the Planning and Zoning 2012 Priorities List on February 11, 2013; and ti"" WHEREAS, at the March 5, 2013 meeting the Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed and approved the Planning and Zoning Priority List; and WHEREAS, Council will address a resolution adopting these recommendations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission that: Section 1. The following List of Planning and Zoning Priorities is hereby approved and recommended to Council for their adoption: Priorities Short and Medium Term 1) Municipal Lands Management Plan (1995) — Update in conjunction with the Capital Improvement Plan and the City Land Disposal Policies and Procedures 2) Continue to pursue compliance with the Seward City Zoning Code by prioritizing the outstanding health and safety issues, such as snow removal, illegal camping, junk vehicles, etc. Seward Planning and Zoning Commission Resolution 2013 -05 Page 2 of 2 Continuing .,., 1) Work with City Council to continue recruitment efforts for the Planning and Zoning Commission 2) Annually review the City of Seward Comprehensive Plan 3) Encourage the City Manager to request an update of the Parks & Recreation Master Plan 4) Seek additional funding for Planning & Zoning Commissioner training • Search out and add funding to the budget 5) Nash Road Bench Study (Resource Management Development Impact Study) as funding allows Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
