CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION RESOLUTION 2013 -11 A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, SUPPORTING THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE ELECTRIC DEPARTMENT WAREHOUSE; THE RELOCATION OF THE CITY WATER WELL DRAINAGE DITCH AND PEDESTRIAN PATHWAY ON CITY OWNED LOT 6A -2, FORT RAYMOND SUBDIVISION NO. 3; AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CONNECTING PUBLIC SIDEWALK; ALL LOCATED AT 605 SEA LION AVENUE WITHIN THE INSTITUTIONAL ZONING DISTRICT WHEREAS, Lot 6A -2, Fort Raymond Subdivision No. 3 contains approximately 10.7 acres, located south of Sea Lion Avenue and the private Kenai Peninsula Borough (KPB) school driveway access; north of the community cemeteries; east of the KPB school baseball field and west of the City owned Air Force lease parcel; and WHEREAS, City Council Resolution 2012 -001, approving the land exchange between the KPB and the City for a small portion of this parcel, stated the use of the land would go before Planning and Zoning Commission; and WHEREAS, the parcel is located within the Institutional Zoning District (INS) and contains the City Electric Department generation plant, Public Works water wells and the City baseball field; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the Land Uses Allowed Table (15.10.225), the proposed warehouse structure and use is allowed outright within the Institutional District; and WHEREAS, the warehouse shall meet all City building code requirements with engineered stamped drawings; and WHEREAS, the relocation of the drainage ditch, pedestrian pathway and construction of the connecting sidewalk have all been engineered to meet current construction standards. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission that: Section 1. The Commission supports the construction and use of the Electric Department warehouse on City owned Lot 6A -2, Fort Raymond Subdivision No. 3. Seward Planning and Zoning Commission Resolution No. 2013 -11 Page 2 of 2 Section 2. The Commission further supports the relocation of the water well drainage ditch and pedestrian pathway on City owned Lot 6A -2, Fort Raymond Subdivision No. 3. Section 3. The Commission further supports the construction of paved flares where the pedestrian pathway connects with the sidewalk at Sea Lion Drive. Section 4. The Commission further supports the construction of the connecting sidewalk located abutting the KPB school campus private driveway. Section 5. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND APPROVED by the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 22 day of May, 2013.
