CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION 2004-11
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, SUPPORTING EFFORTS BY THE ALASKA NATURAL GAS
DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY MAXIMIZING BENEFITS TO ALASKANS
BY BARGING LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS TO COASTAL COMMUNITIES
WHEREAS, the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority is charged with developing a
plan for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) project maximizing its benefits to Alaskans; and
WHEREAS, an Alaskan LNG project is economically viable as infrastructure providing
significant benefit values by providing an ideal fuel for rural Alaska that is safe and easy to use; and
WHEREAS, developing an LNG Project for coastal communities stranded from traditional
gas supplies is integral to the economics of delivering gas throughout Alaska; and
WHEREAS, "bottle barges" or tanks built on barges to contain LNG could transport LNG to
Alaska communities as far south as Ketchikan or as far north as Kotzebue.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City supports barging liquefied natural gas to Alaskan coastal communities as
part of the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority's business concepts.
Section 2.
This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 26th
day of January, 2004.
