City of Seward,Alaska City Council Special Meeting Minutes <br /> December 07, 2015 Volume 39,Page 559 <br /> After conducting the interview with Boyd, Chandler& Falconer LLP, <br /> Council recessed 12:42 p.m. <br /> Council resumed at 12:52 p.m. <br /> After conducting the interview with Birch Horton Bittner& Cherot, <br /> Council recessed at 1:42 p.m. <br /> Council resumed 1:48 p.m. <br /> EXECUTIVE SESSION <br /> Motion (Keil/Casagranda) Go into Executive Session to discuss City <br /> Attorney applicants. <br /> The City Manager, Assistant City Manager, and City Clerk were invited to attend the executive <br /> session. <br /> Motion Passed Unanimous <br /> Council went into Executive Session at 1:47 p.m. <br /> Council came out of Executive Session at 3:07 p.m. <br /> Motion (Bardarson/Keil) Direct Administration to enter into contract <br /> negotiations with the law firm of Birch <br /> Horton Bittner & Cherot, and pending <br /> successful contract negotiations and <br /> reference checks, bring forward a <br /> resolution approving such contract at a <br /> future meeting. <br /> Motion Passed Yes: McClure, Keil, Altermatt, Squires, <br /> Bardarson <br /> No: Casagranda <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> McClure invited everyone to her community choir concert Thursday night. <br /> Bardarson received an email from Steven Fisher,seventh cousin of William H.Seward,who <br /> expressed interest in visiting Seward. She asked if council should extend an invitation and the <br /> consensus was this should be brought to the Chamber of Commerce's attention.She received a letter <br /> from the Seward Trailblazers requesting the mayor's signature on a letter to solicit funds to move the <br /> story of Jujiro Wada forward; Council confirmed support of this as it was a letter to help gather <br /> financial support for the Wada story. <br /> Long said this attorney Request For Proposal process was a good approach and they worked <br /> together well in pulling this off in a short amount of time.He thanked the clerk staff for their help on <br /> this project. <br />
