CALL TO ORDER
The September 22, 2017 special meeting of the Seward City Council was called to order at
1:30 p.m. by Mayor Jean Bardarson
OPENING CEREMONY
Vice Mayor Marianna Keil led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
ROLL CALL
There were present:
Jean Bardarson presiding and
Marianna Keil Ristine Casagranda
Sue McClure Dave Squires
Deborah Altermatt Erik Slater
comprising a quorum of the Council; and
Jim Hunt, City Manager
Johanna Kinney, City Clerk
Absent—None
CITIZEN COMMENTS ON ANY SUBJECT EXCEPT THOSE ITEMS SCHEDULED FOR
PUBLIC HEARING—None
APPROVAL OF AGENDA AND CONSENT AGENDA
Motion (Keil/Casagranda) Approval of Agenda and Consent Agenda
Motion Passed Unanimous
SPECIAL ORDERS, PRESENTATIONS AND REPORTS —None
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Motion (Keil/Casagranda) Go into executive session to discuss City
Clerk applicants.
Motion Passed Unanimous
Council went into Executive Session at 1:32 p.m.
Council came out of Executive Session at 2:10 p.m.

Motion (Bardarson/Keil) Appoint and hire Brenda Ballou to replace
Johanna Kinney as the City Clerk,pending
successful salary and contract negotiations
and pre-employment tests. Select Mayor
Bardarson, Council Member Squires and
Council Member Slater to negotiate a
contract with Ballou on behalf of the City
Council.
Motion Passed Unanimous
COUNCIL COMMENTS
Bardarson wished those getting on the road today to travel safe.

ADJOURNMENT
