CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION 2004-38
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, ACCEPTING STATE OF ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF
CORRECTIONS CAPITAL PROJECT GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF
$4,600.00 AND APPROPRIATE FUNDS
WHEREAS, the State of Alaska Department of Corrections has notified the City that it
has been awarded a FY2003 Capital Project Grant in the amount of $4,600.00 for the purpose of
maintenance, repair, renovation, fire and life safety and security equipment for the Seward
Community Jail; and
WHEREAS, the Grant Agreement reqUIres Council acceptance of the grant and
appropriation of funds; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City of Seward accepts the State of Alaska Department of Corrections
FY2003 Capital Project Grant in the amount of $4,600.00 for the purpose of maintenance, repair,
renovation, fire and life safety and security equipment, i.e. replace Intake Doors and Replace
Cell #1 Security Lock for the Seward Community Jail to State Grant Revenues account no. 101-
0000-4680-028.
Section 2. Funding in the amount of $4,600.00 is hereby appropriated to the
maintenance and repair account no. 101-1211-5380.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
12th day of April, 2004.

Agenda Item: State of Alaska Department of Corrections FY2003 Capital Project
BACKGROUND & JUSTIFICATION:
The State of Alaska Department of Corrections has awarded the City a FY2003 Capital Project Grant
for the purpose of maintenance, repair, renovation, fire and life safety and security equipment for the
Seward Community Jail. The amount of State funding available is $4,600.00.
The grant requires that the City enter into a Contract Agreement with the State of Alaska Department
of Corrections for this project. The Grant Agreement requires Council acceptance of the grant and
appropriation of funds.

RECOMMENDATION:
Council approve Resolution 2004-38, accepting State of Alaska Department of Corrections FY2003
Capital Project Grant in the amount of $4,600.00 for the purpose of maintenance, repair, renovation,
fire and life safety and security equipment for the Seward Community Jail to State grant revenues
account no. 101-0000-4680-0200, authorize the city manager to execute the grant agreement and
appropriate $4,600.00, to the following jail account: to Maintenance and Repair account no. 101-
1211-5380 and $3,000.
