BE IT REEOLVED by the Cowman Council of the City of
Sewa rd, lU "tska :
That the City of Seward request the lUaska liousirg
Authority to take over the management of the City Housing Area.
IT IS AGREED that the City of Seward will make land
avai1ahle at a reasonable cost per lot, and further requests
the iaaska Housing Authority to find a sponsor for a new housing
program.
~JHEREAS, the City of Seward is f aced with a critical
housing shortage caused by construction of a highway between
Seward and Anchorage, increased l11&ska ~ailroad developments in
the City of Sevrard, and increased freight handling through the
Porl of S€\lard.
1'lHEREAS, the population of the City of S'Mard has
increased from 949 persons in 1939 to 2#063 in 1950, and is
still increasing,
IT IS THi:':IEFORE, urgently requested by the COI1'IHOn Council
of the City of Seward that this critical housing shortage be
given immediate attention.
The rules governing the adoption of resolutions are
hereby suspended and an elOOrgency b, dec1a,red to exist, and
this Resolution shall be effective innnediate1y upon its introduction,
by the Corumon Council of the City of Se..Jdrd, this l'7th day of
l-farch, 1952.
