RESOLUTION NO. 119
A RESOLUTIO~ OF TI{L CIT! OF S2wARD FINDING THAT
TEL PUBLIC RECORDS SHOULD BE CLAJ:(IFIED AND AUTri-
ORIZING A CXJRRECTIVE QUITCLAIM DEED IN FAVOR OF
ALICE A. BRaw~ELL CONTAINING A MORE ACCURATE DES-
C~IPTION OF REAL PROPERTY HERETOFORE CO~VEYED TO
HER BY THi CITY OF SE'wARD.
WEE~EAS, during the month of July 1934 the City of Seward did convey to
Alice A. Brownell a parcel of land situated within the City of Seward and
being a part of the Brownell Homestead, and
WnEREAS, said conveyance was effected by a deed which is of record in the
office of the U. S. Commissioner and Ex-Officio Recorder for the Seward Record- ;
ing Precinct in Book 14 of Deeds at page 135 of the records of said office,
and
)~hEREAS, it appears that the description contained in said deed is now
deemed insufficient to satisfactorily describe the parcel of land conveyed
thereby, and
WHEREAS, a survey of the said parcel has now been made by a licensed
surveyor and an accurate description of said parcel has now been developed,
and
W1ffiREAS, it appears highly desirable that the official record be rendered
more accurate, in the public interest, by causing the said accurate description
to be placed of record, and
J*iEREAS, the logical procedure to correct the record is to issue a correct
ive Quitclaim deed to Alice A. Brownell incorporating the said accurate des-
cription in order that said corrective deed may be placed of record.
NC>>I, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED and it is hereby resolved that the Mayor
be instructed and authorized and he is hereby instructed and authorized to
execute a corrective Quitclaim Deed from the City of Seward to Alice A.
Brownell containing the following accurate description of the parcel of land
previously conveyed by the aforesaid deed:
"All that certain real property located in the Seward Record-
ing Precinct of the Third Division of Alaska, described as follows:
Commencing at a stone monument marked Corner 4, S 726 N, Corner
6 Federal Addition, Seward, Alaska; Thence South 890 58' West 15.36
feet; Thence South 000 02' 30" West l628.29 feet along the West line
of First Avenue to the Point of Beginning, Corner #1; Thence North
890 57' 30" West 600.00 feet to the Northwest Corner; Thence South
000 02' 30" West 300.00 feet to the Southwest Corner; Thence South
890 57' 30" East 300.00 feet to Corner #3; Thence South 440 57' 30"
East 424.26 feet to Corner #4; Thence North 000 02' 30" East 600.00
feet along the West line of First Avenue to Corner #1, the Point of
Beginning. Said Tract contains 5.16 acres more or less"
AN EMERGENCY IS HEREBY DECLARED, to exist, and the rules governing the
reading and passage of Resolutions are hereby suspended and this Resolution
given full effect immediately upon its approval and passage.
Passed and approved this 24th day of October 1957.
