CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION 2002-096
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE AND
APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR A USED LOADER FROM CMI, AND A NEW
DUMP TRUCK FROM ALASKA TRUCK CENTER FOR A TOTAL OF
$162,571 FOR USE IN THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, and the acquisition of these two pieces of equipment will help the street crew
provide the services for the maintenance of City streets; and
WHEREAS, our goal is to continue to provide maintenance of streets in a manner that
ensures safe, and an orderly flow or traffic on all City maintained roadways; and
WHEREAS, the Seward City Code 6.10.120 (B) allows for the exemption from competitive
bids that utilize competitive bids for purchases obtained by other governmental units; and
WHEREAS, the Seward City Code 6.10.125 allows for the "used loader' to be exemptfrom
competitive bids where the public interest would be best served by the purchase of used equipment;
and
WHEREAS, the Pub lic Works employees did request price quotes from seven dealerships in
the Anchorage area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to issue a purchase order to CMI in the amount of
$89.805 for the purpose of purchasing a used Volvo L70 Loader, and issue a purchase order to
Alaska Truck Center in the amount of$72, 766 for the purpose of purchasing an International Dump
Truck.
Section 2. Appropriations in the total amount of $162,571 from the Motor Pool Fund
retained earnings account number 102-0000-3050, to the Motor Pool Equipment Account number
102-1020-5930.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 23rd day of
September, 2002.
