RESOLUTION 2002-097
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING A $25,110 PURCHASE ORDER TO BE ISSUED
TO CHUGACH ELECTRIC ASSOCIATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF
REMOVING SPRUCE BARK BEETLE DAMAGED TREES FROM THE
TRANSMISSION LINE RIGHT-OF-WAY
WHEREAS, the Kenai Peninsula Borough has granted $27,900 to the City of Seward
Electric Department for the purpose of removing Spruce Bark Beetle Trees from the Electric
Department Transmission Line Right-of-Way; and
WHEREAS, the Finance Department has retained 10% of the Grant for an administration
fee leaving $25,110 ofthe grant to complete the work; and
WHEREAS, Chugach Electric has crews working on the Transmission right-of-way and has
agreed to continue trimming Spruce Bark Beetle damaged trees in the City of Seward's portion ofthe
line if we pass our remaining grant monies to them; and
WHEREAS, this is a cost effective way to complete the work.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OFTHE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to issue a Purchase Order in, the amount of
$25,110 to Chugach Electric Association for the purpose of removal of spruce Bark Beetle
damaged trees from the City of Seward Transmission Line Right-of-Way.
Section 2. Council has previously authorized the City Manager to accept grant funds
in the amount of $27,900 from the Kenai Peninsula Borough to grant revenue account no. 501-
0000-4680-0900. This resolution will authorize the City Manager to appropriate funds as
follows: $25,110 to contracted services account no. 501-5400-5390 and $2,790 to administrative
fee, account no 501-5400-5670.
Section 3.
This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 23rd
day of September, 2002.
