RESOLUTION 2002-105
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, APPROPRIATING $10,000 FROM THE STATE OF ALASKA
DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES AS A PASS-
THROUGH GRANT TO THE PROVIDENCE SEWARD MEDICAL CENTER
FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING HOSPITAL PERFORMANCE
IMPROVEMENT ACTIVITIES
WHEREAS, the Alaska Department of Health & Social Services (DHSS) awarded a
$10,000 grant to the City of Seward to fund hospital performance improvement activities
including staff training, financial consulting, computer system consulting, improvements to
financial and/or computer systems, network development activities related to referral, peer
review, and/or quality assurance activities with a referral hospital, and/or planning; and
WHEREAS, the grant funding will be used to reimburse Providence Seward Medical
Center (PSMC) for hospital performance improvement activities; and
WHEREAS, PSMC has requested reimbursement for expenditures that are covered
under the grant agreement with DHSS; and
WHEREAS, the request includes $5,000 for an architecture concept plan developed by
ECI/Hyer, Inc. to add an addition to the existing building to house a CT scanner and $5,000 for
expenses related to staff training; and
WHEREAS, the grant was not included in the CY2002 budget, the administration is
requesting that Council appropriate the grant funds so that PSMC can be reimbursed for the
expenditures.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. Funding in the amount of$IO,OOO be appropriated from State Grant
Revenues, account no. 101-0000-4680-0200 to pass-through grant account for the Providence
Seward Medical Center, account no. 101-1180-5998.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 14th
day of October, 2002.
