RESOLUTION 2002-138
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO REDUCE THE
ELECTRICAL RATES AND CHARGES TARIFF FOR THE CITY OF
SEWARD SMALL GENERAL SERVICE CLASS OF CUSTOMERS BY
FIVE PERCENT (5%) EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2003
WHEREAS, the administration has determined that the Small General Service class of
customers deserve a 5% decrease in their electrical rates; and
WHEREAS, the decrease in revenue of approximately $62,000 has already been included in
the 2003 budget; and
WHEREAS, the reduction in rates is scheduled to take effect January 1, 2003; and
WHEREAS, the Electrical Enterprise Fund is in good financial shape and can absorb the loss
of revenue resulting from this rate decrease.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. Effective January 1, 2003, The Electrical Rates and Charges is amended as
follows:

Demand Charges will be based on the maximum demand recorded over a IS-minute period, except, if
other provisions are included in a special contract.

This rate is based on the cost of energy and demand from Chugach Electric Association (CEA) plus 25%
and is subject to change at any time based on CEA rates charged to the City of Seward.
A Small General Service customer may elect to be billed under the Large General Service schedule;
however, the election to change the billing rate from one customer group to another may not be made more
often than once every 12 months.

Section 2. This resolution shall take effect 10 days after passage.
