RESOLUTION 2002-140
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A
CONTRACT WITH AFOGNAK CONSTRUCTION AND EXCAVATING,
FOR PROVIDING ON-CALL SNOW REMOV AL/SANDING SERVICE FOR
THE 2002-2003 WINTER SEASON, PRIMARILY FOR LOWELL POINT
ROAD
WHEREAS, the City of Seward issued a request for proposals to provide on-call plowing
and sanding services for Lowell Point Road, and two local companies, Metco, Inc. and Afognak
Construction and Excavating, Inc. responded; and
WHEREAS, although the two companies proposals are very close in price of equipment, and
analysis of the total cost for either company shows that Afognak is the low proposer; and
WHEREAS, it is recommended that Afognak Construction and Excavating, Inc. be awarded
this contract.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with Afognak
Construction, Inc. to provide plowing and sanding services on an "on-call" basis for the 2002-2003
winter season. The total contract price for the project will not exceed $15,000.00. Funding for this
contract will be from account 101-1314-5390.
Section 2. The contract may be renewed for two (2) additional yearly terms at the sole
option of the City. Total contract terms including renewal options, if exercised, will not exceed (3)
years.
Section 3.
This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 9th day of
December, 2002.
