RESOLUTION 2002-142
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, APPROVING AMENDMENT NO.1 TO THE CONTRACT WITH
SANDRA WASSILIE, HIGH TIDE WRITING, TO RETAIN HER
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AS THE SEWARD CENTENNIAL EVENTS
COORDINATOR FOR THE YEAR 2003
WHEREAS, Seward's Centennial Celebration will be held in 2003; and
WHEREAS, Sandra Wassilie's current contract as Centennial Event Coordinator expires on
December 31, 2002, and
WHEREAS, a Seward Centennial Events Coordinator is needed to continue the strategic
planning, marketing, public relations, and fund raising developments for the Seward Centennial
Celebrations that will be held throughout 2003; and
WHEREAS, the Coordinator is an independent contractor who has been involved in a wide
range of decision-making authority regarding event preparation and coordination, and has an
understanding and appreciation for the projects already in place and Seward's unique history; and
WHEREAS, Sandra would continue to coordinate and oversee the events that have been
scheduled in 2003, helping identify and apply for additional funding sources, grant possibilities,
fund raising events, and keep Council informed regarding the budget and expenditure status ofthe
project; and
WHEREAS, Sandra Wassilie, High Tide Writing, has met the qualifications outlined in the
original request for proposals.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. Amendment No. 1 to the Professional Services Agreement with Sandra Wassilie,
High Tide Writing is hereby approved, extending the Agreement to provide professional Centennial
Coordinator services for the calendar year ending December 31, 2003.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to sign Amendment No. 1 of the professional
services agreement with funding to be from Account 101-1110-5990.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 18th
day of December, 2002.
