HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes1981-044 09/28/81 DS CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 81-44 RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE IDITAROD NATIONAL HISTORIC TRAIL MANAGEMENT PLAN WHEREAS, Seward, Alaska, is one of the original trailheads used in the early 1900's along with many other communities along the 2,000 mile Iditarod National Historic Trail; and WHEREAS, this historic trail still exists today; and WHEREAS, the City of Seward supports the Iditarod National Historic Trail Management Plan and its goal to promote the preservation, enjoyment, use and appreciation of the Iditarod National Historic Trail; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that the Congress of the United States is urged to approve the Iditarod National Historic Trail Management Plan and to appropriate the funds necessary to implement the projects recommended in the Plan; and FURTHER, the City of Seward supports the continued efforts of the Iditarod National Historic Trail Project Office, as well as the many other boosters of the Iditarod National Trail, in seeking to have Seward recognized as the start of the Trail. PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this 28 day of September, 1981.
