HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes1981-060 r I I I I I I 12/28/81 LM:1m CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 81-60 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING RATES FOR GARBAGE AND REFUSE REMOVAL SERVICES FOR THE PERIOD COMMENCING JANUARY 15, 1982 WHEREAS, the City of Seward has accepted the bid of Seward Services for garbage and refuse removal services within the City for the contract pe- riod beginning January 1, 1980, and ending December 31, 1984; and WHEREAS, Section 12-19 of the Seward City Code requires garbage and refuse charges to be fixed by resolution; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. Garbage and refuse removal service charges for the pe- riod commencing January 15, 1982, shall be established by class as follows: Class 1. BUSINESS Monthly rates for businesses; including dentists, physicians and clinics shall be as follows: PICKUPS PER WEEK FIRST CAN EACH ADDITIONAL CAN 1 $ 7.30 $ 3.30 2 14.60 6.50 3 22.00 9.50 4 29.25 12.45 5 36.60 15.35 6 43.90 18.30 The monthly rate for offices (wastepaper only), with one pickup per week, shall be $4.55 per can. Class 2. RESIDENCE (Weekly Collection) The monthly rates for single family residences shall be as follows: Regular pickup - $ 9.15 **Resident pack-out service - 11. 85 ~ RES.# 81-60 Page 2 of 3 Monthly rates for apartments (more than two units having common cans) shall be as follows: Individual billing - $8.35 per unit Single (landlord) billing and central pickup - 7.80 per unit **Apartment pack-out service - 2.20 additional per unit **A11 residential pack-out service shall be at the discretion of the garbage contractor. All cans must be easily accessible and within a reasonable dis- tance from the alley, street, or utility easement. Class 3. SPECIAL SERVICES In the event the City or the contractor is requested to enter the customer's property and/or premises to remove garbage, except residential pack-out service, such service may be performed and the charge shall be twenty- five percent (25%) over the regular rate. Class 4. VACANT OR UNOCCUPIED DWELLINGS AND/OR RESIDENCES There shall be no charge for residences that are vacant. Prior arrangements shall be made with the City by making written application for garbage service to be discontinued because of vacancy, provided the residence is unoccupied three (3) weeks or longer in anyone (1) month. Class 5. MUNICIPAL SERVICE The municipal service rate shall be $0.90 per can per month. Class 6. TIME AND EQUIPMENT RATES The hourly rate for equipment and men shall be as follows: One truck and one man $51.20 per hour One truck and two men 77.05 per hour Special pickups after 5:00 p.m. and before 8:00 a.m. and anytime on Saturday, Sunday or holidays will be charged at 1.5 times the regular daily rate. Minimum charge shall be one-half hour at the rate which applies. Class 7. CONTAINER SERVICE The container service rate shall be as follows: CONTAINER SIZE MONTHLY RATE PER CONTAINER 2.7 cu. yd. $10.55 per pickup 4.0 cu. yd. 13.90 per pickup r I I RES. II 81-60 Page 3 of 3 Special pickups after 5:00 p.m. and before 8:00 a.m. and anytime on Saturday, Sunday or holidays will be charged at 1.5 times the regular daily rate. Section 2. The rates set forth in this resolution shall remain in effect until revised by further resolution. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect January 15, 1982.
