CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION 2002-015
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
PAY DUES OWED TO THE ALASKA RURAL ELECTRIC
COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATION (ARECA) FOR THE YEAR 2002
IN THE AMOUNT OF $15,461.00
WHEREAS, the Alaska Rural Electric Cooperative Association (ARECA) is the
organization representing telephone and electric utilities in the State of Alaska; and
WHEREAS, the ARECA organization provides a forum and opportunity for
interaction and professional coordination of Electric Utility activities and is an extremely
valuable organization for the City to belong to and participate in; and
WHEREAS, the dues for ARECA for the year 2002 are $15,461.00; and
WHEREAS, these dues represent a 7.87% increase over 2001 dues; and

WHEREAS, it is important for the City of Seward to maintain contact on a
professional basis with other electric utilities in the State of Alaska, and in the nation, in
order to benefit from their larger sizes which allows us to participate in multiple training
and educational programs which we cannot afford to support at the local level.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to pay the year 2002 dues to ARECA
in the amount of$15,461.00
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska,
this 11 th day of February 2002.
