RESOLUTION 2002-045
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A GRANT
IN THE AMOUNT OF $19,264.44 FROM THE ALASKA HIGHWAY
SAFETY OFFICE FOR BICYCLE SAFETY AND POLICE BICYCLE
PATROL, APPROPRIATE $4,338.20 FROM THE GENERAL FUND, FUND
BALANCE AND AUTHORIZE EXPENDITURES TOTALING $23,602.64 IN
THE BIKE SAFETY 2002 FUND
WHEREAS, the City of Seward has received a $19,264.44 grant from the Alaska Highway
Safety Office for the purpose of bicycle safety and police bicycle patrol by the Police Department;
and
WHEREAS, this grant is for a 90% AHSO, 10% City match; and
WHEREAS, the City's portion of the grant is $2,371.32, which must be paid to receive the
AHSO portion of the grant; and
WHEREAS, the City requires an additional 10% administrative fee be added to the project
to account for the true costs of the project, and we are requesting that this amount of $1 ,966.88 be
appropriated back to the proj ect, and
WHEREAS, the Police Department's budget is insufficient to cover the City's portion ofthe
grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council authorizes the City Manager to accept the Alaska Highway
Safety Office grant number PT 020512 in the amount of $19,264.44 for use in bicycle safety and
police bicycle patrol to account number 200-2004-4680-0200, appropriate $4,338.20 from the
General Fund, fund balance, account number 101-0000-3050, and expend the total of$23,602.64 in
the Bike Safety 2002 project account number 200-2004-5XXX.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 22nd
day of April, 2002.
