RESOLUTION 2002-064
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADD $19,250 TO THE
CONTRACT WITH DRYDEN & LARUE FOR FT. RAYMOND
SUBSTATION IMPROVEMENTS, TO PAY FOR ADDITIONAL
ENGINEERING WORK RELATED TO GENERA TOR #6 INST ALLA TION
AND ADDITIONAL NEEDED ELECTRICAL PROTECTION OF THE
SYSTEM
WHEREAS, the City of Seward hired Dryden & LaRue, an Anchorage Electrical
Engineering firm, to do the engineering work for the installation of Generator #6 and the associated
work in Ft. Raymond Substation; and
WHEREAS, although the installation of Generator #6 is complete, and the unit is fully
operational at this time, we need to finish some additional work associated with that installation
such as the conversion of Generator #3 to generate at 4160 volts "Y" instead of2400 volts "Delta"
in order to fully utilize the new switchgear and transformers which we installed for this project;
and
WHEREAS, our engineering firm is also recommending the installation of Neutral
Resistors on Generators #3,#4,#5 & #6 to protect our expensive generators from line faults and the
installation of 69 kV Ground Potential transformers for line protection; and
WHEREAS, Dryden & LaRue has quoted acost of$17,000 to do the engineering for these
projects; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed prudent to increase the estimated engineering fees by 10% to
$19,250 to cover contingencies; and
WHEREAS, there is $27,696 remaining in this project fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to add $19,250 to the Dryden & LaRue
engineering contract for the Ft. Raymond Substation modifications.

Section 2.
This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 8th day
of July, 2002.
