RESOLUTION 2001-028
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROPRIATE
$33,250 FROM ACCOUNT 101-0-4680-0100 (FEMAREIMBURSEMENT FOR
EQUIPMENT RENTAL USED BY PUBLIC WORKS DURING AVALANCHE
2000) TO COVER THE BUDGET DEFICIT IN THE FOLLOWING THREE
AREA'S; STREETS (1 01-131 O-XXXX), SNOW &ICE (1 0l-1314-XXXX), AND
SHOP (10l-1340-XXXX).
WHEREAS, the City of Seward experienced higher than normal snow removal costs during
the avalanches in 2000; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has reimbursed the City
$53,456.85 for the cost ofthe equipment rental used by the Public Works Department to remove the
excess snow during the "Avalanche 2000" period; and
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department exceeded their total budget in the "Streets",
"Snow & Ice", and the "Shop" accounts by some $33,250 due to the heavy snowfall, some additional
flood control projects, some sidewalk repairs, and some maintenance requirements; and
WHEREAS, an appropriation of a portion of the monies ($33,250) paid by FEMA back to
the Public Works Department budget for Streets, Snow & Ice, and Shop. will balance the budget for
FY 2000 in this area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council approves Resolution 2001-028, authorizing the City Manager
to appropriate $33,250 from Account 101-0-4680-0100 (FEMA reimbursement for equipment rental
used by Public Works during Avalanche 2000) to the Public Works FY 2000 budget to cover the
following three area's: Streets (101-131 O-XXXX), Snow & Ice (10 1-1314-XXXX), and Shop (101-
1340-XXXX).
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 12th
day of February, 2001.
