HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes2001-036 I I I Failed Sponsored by: Janke CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION 2001-036 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR A LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION FUND GRANT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE AREA AROUND FOUNDER'S MONUMENT. WHEREAS, the Land and Water Conservation Fund grant has been restored to the State of Alaska's management and the City of Seward qualifies for pre-application; and WHEREAS, the creation and development of the area around Founder's Monument for 2003 is consistent with current City of Seward plans; and WHEREAS, the minimum federal match is $100,000, demanding a substantial project and creating a substantial local match and commitment. The application process is very demanding and time- consuming, such that a policy decision is required of the Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL YED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to apply for an L WCF grant for the development of the area around Founder's Monument. Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska this 12th day of March, 2001.
