<br />. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Sponsored by: Janke <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />RESOLUTION 2001-053 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br />ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A <br />CONTRACT WITH ROMTEC TO PURCHASE A PRE-FABRICATED, <br />CONCRETE BLOCK, PUBLIC RESTROOM FACILITY AT A COST OF $75, <br />325.00, FOB SEWARD AND APPROPRIATE $126,325 FOR PHASE I OF <br />THE PROJECT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Council has approved a conceptual design for a public restroom facility located <br />on the property owned by the City of Seward at the southwest comer ofF ourth and Adams Streets; <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the engineering department has investigated and received cost estimates for <br />three different methods of erecting a Public Restroom Facility on this site; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Administration desires to extend every effort to have this facility in place <br />by July 4th, 2001; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to not follow Section 6.10.210 and utilize Section <br />6.10.130 ofthe City Code, finding it in the public interest to not require competitive bid proposals, <br />in order to meet the construction completion deadline of July 4, 2001; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Romtec "Sierra IV" pre-fabricated building has been determined to be the <br />best selection for a public restroom facility on this site; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Romtec has agreed to deliver this building to Seward approximately 5 weeks <br />after the order at a cost of approximately $75,325. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with Romtec for an amount not <br />to exceed $79,091 (75,325 + 5% contingency of$3,766) for a Sierra IV building to be delivered to <br />Seward approximately 5 weeks after the order. <br /> <br />Section 2. An additional $14,000 is authorized for the construction of the foundation and slab, <br />preparation of the site, and rough plumbing and electrical work for the facility. <br /> <br />Section 3. It is in the public interest to not follow Section 6.10.210 and utilize Section 6.10.130 of <br />the City Code, finding it in the public interest to not require competitive bid proposals, in order to <br />meet the construction completion deadline of July 4, 2001. <br />
