RESOLUTION 2001-088
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO AMEND THE
CONTRACT WITH WM. J. NELSON & ASSOCIATES, INCREASING THE
CONTRACT AMOUNT FROM $190,060 TO $251,431 TO ALLOW NELSON
TO ENGAGE THE SERVICES OF HDR TO PREPARE A NEW
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT FOR THE NORTH FOREST ACRES
ACCESS ROAD
WHEREAS, it has been necessary for the Administration to pull the Environmental
Assessment submital for the North Forest Acres Access Road from consideration by the various
governmental agencies which must review and approve the document; and,
WHEREAS, after meeting with the agencies involved, we decided to request the project
engineer to select a new firm to write the Environmental Assessment Document; and,
WHEREAS, two firms were interviewed and Nelson selected HDR as the consultant to write
the new Environmental Assessment(EA) ; and,
WHEREAS, HDR has submited a proposal to write the EA for a fee of $61 ,371 (Including
Nelson's mark-up for insurance and overhead);and,
WHEREAS, the new contract amount will be $251,431;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to increase the amount of the contract with Wm.
1. Nelson and associates from $190,060 to $251,431 (an increase of $61,371) to allow for the
preparation of a new Environmental Assessment by HDR
Section 2. The funding for this increase is from a NRCS Flood Mitigation grant, Account
666-6660-5390.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 23rd
day ofJuly, 2001.
