RESOLUTION 2001-106
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, ACCEPTING THE STATE OF ALASKA GRANT OF $1 MILLION
FOR THE PURPOSE OF EXPANDING WORK CAPABILITIES AT THE
SEWARD SHIPYARD, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE A GRANT AGREEMENT AND APPROPRIATING THE FUNDS
WHEREAS, the 2001 Alaska Legislature provided a $1 million grant to the City of Seward
for the purpose of expanding work capabilities at the Seward Shipyard; and
WHEREAS, the following improvements are needed: a fabrication shop, an employee/vessel
crew facility and utility extensions such as water lines, fire hydrants, sewer lines, lift station capacity
and electric service; and
WHEREAS, the grant includes $876,400 for the above improvements, including engineering,
and $123,600 for administration for a total grant of$1 million; and
WHEREAS, the City will own the improvements funded by this grant;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City of Seward accepts the State of Alaska grant of $1 million for the purpose
of expanding work capabilities at the Seward Shipyard and authorizes the city manager to execute
a grant agreement
Section 2. Funding in the amount of $1 million is hereby appropriated from State Grant
Revenues, account no. 669-6690-4680-0200 to the Shipyard Improvements Capital Project Fund,
account no. 669-6690-5XXX
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 27th
day of August, 2001.
