RESOLUTION 2001-116
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, ENDORSING THE POLICE DISPATCH RADIO
COMMUNICATION SYSTEM UPGRADE FOR SUBMISSION TO THE
STATE OF ALASKA FOR FY2003 FUNDING UNDER THE CAPITAL
PROJECT MATCHING GRANT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the State of Alaska Department of Community & Economic Development
is accepting applications for its FY2003 Capital Project Matching Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Seward is an eligible municipality under AS 37.06 as set forth
in 2 AAC 47.030 and our projected available funding for FY2003 is $74,540; and
WHEREAS, to receive these funds, the City must provide a minimum local match of
$17,856 for a total minimum project funding of $92,396; and
WHEREAS, one of the most important services that the Seward Police Dispatch provides
is public safety radio communications; and
WHEREAS, the current system is approximately 12 to 30 years old, is obsolete and parts
are no longer manufactured making repairs almost impossible; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of this project is to replace the current communications system
and improve the communication system capabilities of the Seward Police Dispatch; and
WHEREAS, the total project is estimated to cost $169,764 of which approximately
$74,540 will be provided by the State Capital Matching Grant Program and the remainder of
$95,224 will be requested in the CY2003 General Fund Capital Projects budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City of Seward hereby endorses the police dispatch radio communication
system upgrade for submission to the State of Alaska for FY2003 funding under the Capital
Project Matching Grant Program, requests grant funding under AS 37.06 for said project and
agrees to provide the local share for the project as required under AS 37.06.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption,
