RESOLUTION 2001-123
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A
CONTRACT WITH METCO, INC. FOR PROVIDING PLOWING AND
SANDING SERVICES FOR LOWELL POINT ROAD ON AN "ON-CALL"
BASIS FOR THE 2001-02 WINTER SEASON WITH AND OPTION TO
RENEW, FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS.
WHEREAS, the City of Seward issued a request for proposals to provide on-call plowing
and sanding services for Lowell Point Road, and two local companies, Metco, Inc., and Mognak
Construction & Excavating, Inc. responded; and.
WHEREAS, it is desirable that the City not be required to request proposals every year for
this work, the City Manager is authorized to include a provision for extending the contract on a yearly
basis for the next three years; and,
WHEREAS, although the two companies proposals are very close in price of equipment, an
analysis ofthe total cost for either company shows that Metco is the low proposer; and,
WHEREAS, it is recommended that Metco, Inc. be awarded this contract
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with Metco, Inc. to
provide plowing and sanding setvices on an 10n-caIl" basis for Lowell Point Road at the prices quoted
in their proposal and with an option to renew the contract on a yearly basis for the next three years.
Section 2. Funding to be from the budget
Section 3. This resolution to take effect immediately upon passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 8th day of
October, 2001.
