RESOLUTION 2001-128
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PAY A NOT-TO-
EXCEED COST OF $15,000 FOR REPAIRS TO THE ACCESS ROADS FOR
THE ELECTRICAL TRANSMISSION LINE WHICH WERE DAMAGED
DURING THE MITIGATION WORK BY ALCAN.
WHEREAS, the City's contractor ALCAN has completed the mitigation work on the
electrical Transmission line damaged in the Avalanches of2000; and,
WHEREAS, it was necessary for ALCAN to use access roads to get to the locations where
repair work was done; and,
WHEREAS, these access roads were damaged during this work and need to be restored to
the original condition as approved by the Forest Service and in accordance with our permit to use this
land for our Transmission Line; and,
WHEREAS, the Forest Service has prepared a Scope-of-Work and is willing to hire and
supervise a contractor to conduct these repairs for a cost not-to-exceed $15,000; and,
WHEREAS, time is of the essence to allow the contractor to complete these repairs before
winter sets in and further damage is done to the roads.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to allow the Forest Service to select and supervise
the contractor who will do the road repairs.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to pay up to $15,000 for repairs to the access
roads at miles 18 and 22 to bring them up to the standards outlined by the Forest Service.
Section 3. Funding to be from a FEMA grant for Transmission Line Mitigation Repairs.
Section 4. This Resolution to take effect immediately upon passage.
