RESOLUTION 2001-134
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO AWARD A CON-
TRACT TO AAA FENCING WITHOUT COMPETITIVE BIDDING IN THE
AMOUNT OF $30,330 TO INSTALL FENCING AND GATES AROUND THE
GATEWAY AND LOWELL CANYON WATER TANK SITES
WHEREAS, recent events have caused us to be more pro-active in protecting our
infrastructure from unauthorized personnel; and
WHEREAS, the administration has decided that the Water Tanks in Lowell Canyon and
Gateway need to be fenced to prevent unauthorized entry and possible disruption of our water
supply; and
WHEREAS, we requested bids and selected AAA fencing as the low bidder for the Jesse
Lee Home fencing project; and
WHEREAS, while AAA fencing was in Seward, we requested a quote on fencing ofthe two
water tank sites; and
WHEREAS, AAA fencing has provided us that quote in the amount of$30,330 for 842 feet
of 8 ft. chain link fence; topped by 3 strands of barbed wire and 18 inches of razor wire; and
including a 16 ft. cantilever gate and one man-gate at each location.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with AAA fencing to
install fencing around the Gateway and Lowell Canyon Water Tank sites at a cost of $30,330.
Section 2. Funds in the amount of$30,330 are hereby appropriated from Water & Sewer
Retained Earnings, Account No. 701-0000-3050, to Water General Operating Account No. 701-
7400-5440.
Section 3. This Resolution to take effect immediately upon passage by the City Council.
