RESOLUTION 2001-141
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROPRIATE AN
ADDmONAL $6,000 FROM THE STATE OF ALASKA FROM THE JAIL
CONTRACT ACCOUNT TO THE JAIL EXPENDITURE ACCOUNT FOR
JAIL MEALS
WHEREAS, the Seward Community Jail has seen an increase in the incarceration of persons
being held in custody during the past nine months; and
WHEREAS, with the other facilities at maximum capacity we are holding some detainees at
our facility for a full 30 days and some, with waivers, beyond that; and
WHEREAS, we have depleted our current funds for prisoner's meals and operating expenses;
and
WHEREAS, the State of Alaska recently increased the amount they pay to the City of
Seward for the administration of the jail from $363,465 to $371,464, an increase of$8,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to appropriate $6,000 from the Jail Contract
Account to the Jail Expenditure account for jail meals.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council ofthe City of Seward, Alaska, this 5th day
of November, 2001.
