RESOLUTION 2001-156
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, SUPPORTING THE INDEPENDENT LIVING CENTER'S
APPLICATION WITH THE ALASKA MENTAL HEALTH TRUST
AUTHORITY AND THE ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
FOR TRANSPORTATION SERVICES FOR THE ELDERLY AND
DISABLED
WHEREAS, the Seward Community has a need for affordable handicapped accessible
transportation services; and
WHEREAS, the Independent Living Center has developed a solution to the transportation
needs of individuals with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, the Independent Living Center is developing a coordinated affordable
transportation system that will be accessible to individuals that are frail, elderly, or disabled; and
WHEREAS, the Independent Living Center is coordinating their transportation plan with
Sea View Community Services and Seward taxi companies for use of the Sea View Community
Services lift-equipped van and taxi service for the frail, elderly and disabled; and
WHEREAS, the Independent Living Center is applying for a grant with the Alaskll. Mental
Health Trust Authority and Alaska Department of Transportation to receive funding. for these
transportation services;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF. THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: "
Section 1. The Seward City Council supports the Independent Living Center' stransportation
services grant application with the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority and the Alaska Department
of Transportation.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 14 day
of November, 2001.
