RESOLUTION 2001-157
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT WITH VALLEY DETROIT DIESEL ALLISON, EMD
POWER PRODUcrs GROUP, TO INSPECf AND DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE
OF A CRANKCASE EXPLOSION IN GENERATOR NUMBER FOUR AT
Fr. RAYMOND SUBSTATION AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR
REPAIRS AT A COST OF 511,500.00.
WHEREAS, generator number four experienced a crankcase explosion which put the unit
out of operation; and
WHEREAS, Valley Detroit Diesel Allison has provided a quote of $11,500 to travel to
Seward with two technicians and perform an inspection, diagnose, and make recommendations for
repairs to the generator; and
WHEREAS, since this generator is a vital part of the emergency generation equipment for
the City .of Seward, Valley Detroit Diesel was given approval to do the inspection prior to Council
approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into an agreement for $11,500.00 with
Valley Detroit Diesel Allison, EMD Power Products Group to inspect, diagnose and make
recommendations for repairs to EMD Generator number four at Ft Raymond Substation.
Section 2. Funding to be from Account 501-5110-5380.
Section 3. This resolution to take effect immediately upon adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 19th day
of November, 2001.
