RESOLUTION 2000-045
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, A WARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE
REPAIR AND RENOVATION OF THE FIRE HALL ROOF
WHEREAS, a request for proposals to renovate the Fire Hall roof was properly advertised;
and
WHEREAS, the upper and lower flat roofs were both leaking water into the building;
WHEREAS, the roofs do not drain properly thus leaving standing water on the roof;
WHEREAS, the CY2000 budget included $100,000 for this project. Chipman Construction,
the selected proposer, submitted a bid price of$54,500, including a 10 year warranty.
WHEREAS, a 10% contingency has been added to the contractors proposal price to cover
change orders, increasing the contract price to $59,950.
WHEREAS, an additional 1 0% is also adde.d to cover administrative fees, bringing the total
project cost to $65,945, which is within the budgeted amount for this project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract on behalf ofthe City
of Seward with Chipman Construction for an amount not to exceed $59,950 for the renovation of
the Fire Hall roof
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this28th day
of March, 2000.
