CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 90-098
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, CHANGING THE NAME OF "OLD
AIRPORT ROAD" TO "PORT AVENUE"
WHEREAS, a number of Seward residents and business owners have
expressed concern over the confusing name of "Old Airport Road";
and
WHEREAS, confusion arises when those looking for businesses
located on Old Airport Road drive to the Airport, and those looking
for the Airport travel down Old Airport Road; and
WHEREAS, an informal survey of those operating businesses on
Old Airport Road revealed that a majority of those asked either
favored changing the name or had no objection to changing the name;
and
WHEREAS, the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission, at its
regular meeting of June 6, 1990, voted to recommend that the
Council change the name of Old Airport Road to "Port Avenue";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The east-west roadway presently known as "Old
Airport Road" is hereby designated "Port Avenue".
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward,
Alaska, this 27th day of August, 1990.
