CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 90-100
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, CONFIRMING A 120-DAY LEASE
AGREEMENT WITH CHUGACH ALASKA CORPORATION FOR
THE STORAGE OF A MODULAR LOGGING CAMP
WHEREAS, Chugach Alaska Corporation leased a site within the
Seward Marine Industrial Center during the period September 28,
1989, through May 1, 1990, for the temporary storage of a modular
logging camp; and
WHEREAS, because of delays in permitting and operational
commitments, the camp was not able to be relocated, and Chugach
Alaska Corporation wishes to lease the site for another 120 days;
and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to waive appraisal of
the subject property for a lease of such short duration; and
WHEREAS, the subject property has not been identified for any
other use by the city during the proposed term of this lease; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to enter into this short
term lease agreement at a rate determined by the city administra-
tion based upon other lease rates in the area; and
WHEREAS, the city has prepared a lease agreement of a
temporary nature which has been approved the City Manager subject
to confirmation by the City Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. In accordance with Section 7.05.410 of the Seward
City Code, the 120-day lease of approximately 30,000 square feet of
city-owned property located within USS 4827 to Chugach Alaska
Corporation, a copy of which is attached and incorporated herein by
reference, is hereby approved.
Section 2. The above referenced lease is subject to suspen-
sion during the first thirty (30) days after passage and posting of
this resolution if a sufficient referendary petition is filed in
accordance with Section 4.8 of the City Charter.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
