Sponsored by: Schaefermeyer CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 90-134 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, SUPPORTING RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE SALES TAX TASK FORCE REGARDING CHANGES TO THE KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH TAX CODE WHEREAS, the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly has appointed a Sales Tax Task Force composed of Borough Assembly members, city officials and members of the public to examine the sales tax exemption area, among other issues; and WHEREAS, the Sales Tax Task Force has made recommendations to the Assembly for amending the borough sales tax code concerning exemptions for nonprofit organizations and other exemptions; and WHEREAS, it is desirable to amend the Code to clarify sales tax exemptions, including the nonprofit organization exemption and other exemptions; and WHEREAS, the Seward City Council wishes to support the recommendations of the Borough Sales Tax Task Force; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. The Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly is urged to pass and adopt KPB Ordinance No. 90-59, amending the borough sales tax code to clarify sales tax exemptions. Section 2. Copies of this resolution shall be forwarded to Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor Don Gilman, Assembly President Jim Skogstad, Assembly Member Jonathan Sewall and all other members of the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 29th day of October, 1990.
