CITIZEN COMMENTS ON AGENDA ITEMS NOT SCHEDULED FOR PUBLIC
HEARING- None
APPROVAL OF AGENDA AND CONSENT AGENDA
MOTION (Martin/Seavey)
Approve the Agenda and Consent Agenda.
Chairman Galvano requested item toc, Annual Report to City Council, be taken off the
agenda. She noted that she would address the Council at their second meeting in March.
Motion Passed.
Without Objection
The September 8th, 1999 regular meeting minutes were approved on the consent agenda.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS -
Chairman Galvano requested the Commission turn in any revisions or comments regarding
the 'Guide to Completing the Seward Register of Historic Places Application' to the Administration.
Galvano also thanked James and Martin for working on this project.
NEW BUSINESS
Historic Preservation Annual Award Nominations and Selection
Sczawinski nominated Jennifer Headtke and Jeannie Shirk for their work in competing the
downtown mural of historic photographs of Seward's early days.

as this years Historic Preservation Award
recipients.
Motion Passed.
Without Objection
James suggested Pam Herman as a candidate for a future Historic Preservation Award in
recognition for her past work on various National Register of Historic Places Applications.
Commission discussed work that Pam had done, and Martin volunteered to assist James in
gathering information for a proclamation.

Galvano volunteered to head the committee and appointed Seavey to work with her.
NEW BUSINESS
CLG Training Grants
Judith Bittner and administration outlined the CLG training grant opportunities offered
for this summer. Bittner reiterated that Commissioner's time could be used as matching funds
for the grant. She stated that all the trainings offered were very valuable, and stated that she
would be very excited to see some ofthe Commissioners take advantage of the Pittsburgh 2000
conference.
Commission and administration discussed logistics of how trip would be paid for initially
by individuals, and then reimbursed through the City, and also that the administration would first
need to calculate the reimbursement ratios. Commission and administration spoke about who
would like to attend which training opportunities.
INFORMATIONAL ITEMS AND REPORTS
Kenai Mountains- Turagain Arm National Heritage Area Bill
James reviewed article from the Daily News published on February 26, 2000.
FY 2000 Historic Preservation Funds Grants to Preserve Nationally Significant Intellectual
and Cultural Artifacts and Historic Structures and Sites
James stated that the deadline for this year had already passed, but administration had
included the information in this packet for future years. She stated that the two structures that
might be eligible in the future were the Jesse Lee Home and the Lowell Canyon Tunnel.
CLG Annual Report for 1999
Bittner thanked the administration for a very well done report.
Written report on Jesse Lee Home- Building Assessment
Commission discussed findings.
