CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
RESOLUTION NO. 95-04
A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD HISTORIC PRESERVATION
COMMISSION, RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL BUDGET $10,000
TO THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION FOR MATCHING GRANT FUNDS
WHEREAS, the 2010 Comprehensive Plan states that, "Seward Derives Part of Its
Unique Character From Its Historic Architecture; This Character Must Be Saved;" and
and
WHEREAS, the community supports efforts to preserve the historic character of Seward;
WHEREAS, there are federal matching-grant funds available annually through the State
Historic Preservation Office; and
WHEREAS, these matching grant programs provide the Historic Preservation
Commission with the additional funds necessary to accomplish the duties of the commission as
outlined in SCC ~ 2.30.425; and
WHEREAS, projects completed with the assistance of matching grants provide for the
preservation of Seward's historic character and consequently aid in the promotion of "heritage
tourism" ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Historic Preservation
Commission that:
Section 1. The Seward Historic Preservation Commission recommends that the City
Council budget $10,000 for FY96 to the Historic Preservation Commission for matching grant
funds.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the Seward Historic Preservation Commission this 15th
day of February, 1995.
